Will you be participating in a March Madness Pool this year?
The craziness of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament is only about a week away. For many basketball lovers, this is considered to be the highlight of the season. It’s probably known as the most compelling and greatest sporting event…well probably besides the Super Bowl. :)
What’s more exciting than participating in a March Madness Pool? Maybe warmer weather for those who’ve been hit with the snowstorm harshly this winter, BUT it’ll only get better moving forward! Spring will be dropping in soon and so will these brackets.
After polling our members, it seems that majority will not be participating in a March Madness Pool this year while only a low 10.3% will be. Seems surprising from a glance, but it’s actually quite normal when you break it down. For those who participated, about 72.4% of females responded with “No, definitely not” while 27.6% of males responded with the same exact expression. It’s the complete opposite when looking at those who said “Yes, most definitely”. More men than women responded with this, more specifically 54.9% vs. 45.1%, accordingly. Guess some things will never change when it comes to sports!
Of those who’ll be participating, many expressed they’ll be filling out 1 to 2 brackets for March Madness this year. This seems like the ideal number as too many can be overwhelming! Brackets of 3 to 4 and 5 or more broke even.
The older demographic seems to be much more interested in participating in the pool than the younger ones. About 51.4% of those aged 35-64 said they’ll be filling 1 to 2 brackets, while 34.8% of those aged 16-34 said they’ll be doing the same amount of brackets. Almost the same trend is seen amongst the other brackets of 3 to 4 and 5 or more. Will you be filling out 1-2 or 5 or more?
When all of this is said and done, do you expect to win? Let’s hope so! However, the chances of actually creating a perfect bracket seem to be very slim, according to the Chicago Tribune. In fact it’s less than 1 in 9.2 quintillion (or 9,223,372,036,854,775,808) chance. But hey, as long we win against those in our pool, then having a perfect bracket doesn’t matter, right?!
Good luck to everyone participating. :)
